  • I wrote about how the political web talk show The Young Turks (also heard on Air America and XM radio) a while back, specifically noting how The Young Turks had successfully engaged “web soldiers” to promote and push out their content.

    Now see the impact…

  • From The AP about BNF's webisode venture:
"The story of Peacock's struggle to recover from the trauma of combat and an alleged sexual assault by an officer premieres Wednesday in a new online documentary. "Angie's Story" is the latest webcast in the series "In Their Boots," about the struggles of Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans and their families.

The series is a project of the Brave New Foundation, a Culver City, Calif.-nonprofit group headed by filmmaker and political activist Robert Greenwald "

  • How the GOP is looking to retool its Internet integration… From Mother Jones…

"Turk left the RNC because of episodes like this. Today, he is working with a coalition of Web-oriented Republican activists that has started an initiative called Rebuild the Party. The group's overarching goal is to change the GOP's endemic Ludditism. Its website lays out a platform calling for the GOP to fully utilize the new technological tools that have vastly improved the arts of political organizing, fundraising, and campaigning. "Winning the technology war with the Democrats must be the RNC's No. 1 priority in the next four years," the group says. "The Republican Party can no longer survive in a modern era if we resist this new reality."

  • Former LA Times interactive technology editor embarking on six-month, fact-finding quest about the future of journalism. Asking these questions (see below) and more…

    # What common themes emerge as news organizations change their workflow, culture, reporting structures and newsroom geography?
    # What are newsrooms in Europe and elsewhere doing that American media can learn from?
    # How are news organizations succeeding in doing more with less? Where are they focusing their resources and what are they walking away from?
    # What lessons can we take from success stories outside traditional media, including solo practitioners and online-only outfits?
    # How are news aggregators and social media affecting coverage choices and marketing of content?

  • "The point about inflow and key, and something that a lot of people miss. We focus a lot of attention on cultivating a good inbox. Emailing back readers who have helpful things to say to keep them emailing, pushing back on or ignoring lame stuff, filtering out spam."
